With the development of science, our world is going into a digital age. The digital information is replacing the traditional analog information of video and audio gradually. It not only guarantees the information quality, but also makes any information procession more convenient. Nowadays, many communication methods are used in the high-speed digital communication. But the data rate of most interface transmission is not high enough to satisfy the requirement of user, as it is asked to be higher and higher. As a high-speed serial bus standard which supports data speed up to 400Mbps, hot-pluggable and has two types of data transfer, asynchronous and isochronous, IEEE 1394 communication protocol is taking more and more effect in the interface market. It is also needed to help industry to improve the production efficiency.This thesis comes from the project"FireWire Software Design"which is provided by ASM Pacific Technology Ltd., its main purpose is to grasp the theory of transfer over IEEE 1394 bus, to make pre-research of the possibility and feasibility of the application of IEEE 1394 on industrial devices in the industrial application. The thesis is focused on the problem of the performance of two types of data transfer, and the consideration of building a small local network based on IEEE 1394 protocol. In the project, we will use the data of the Liquid Cooling project as a demonstration and perform the asynchronous data transmission between the upper computer and the lower computer on IEEE 1394 bus to analyze the performance of data transfer. For the limitation of cost and time, performance of asynchronous data transmission is being researched primarily in the project.The thesis includes the following contents:1) Give a simple description about all kinds of prevailed serial bus, analyze and compare these serial buses;2) Give a concrete description on several main aspects of IEEE 1394 protocol;3) Give a concrete description on ASY data transmission on IEEE 1394 bus and software design of communication in liquid cooling system;...
