According to the requirement of user's application, this dissertation introduces the research and development of homemade 1394-VXI slot0 system controller in detail. It is to solve the technical problems in schematic design, manufacture, debugging and test to satisfy the rules of specification, operation, transplantation, maintainability, high stability, high reliability, high compatibility and high speed. Having fully understood the VXI bus specification, VXI plug & play specification, VXI extended instrument specification and IEEE 1394 bus specification, this dissertation advances the method of structural analysis, design and optimization. The process of hardware design, optimization, debugging and test for homemade 1394-VXI slot 0 system controller is described in detail. The module developed satisfies the VXI bus specification, IEEE 1394 bus specification and VISA VPP4.3 specification.This dissertation firstly introduces the general design principle and system structure of 1394-VXI slot0 controller. Next, it primarily introduces the optimization of this module as a product, including the circuit of 1394 interface, the embedded DSP software, the FPGA and CPLD code. Then debugging of the module is described. The system test is introduced at last. United function and performance tests with the register-based,information-based,storage-based and extending-based VXI modules of the namable HP,NI and AEROSPACE M&C technology development company, show that the homemade 1394-VXI slot0 controller module satisfies the VXI bus test technology specification, has good commutative operation, and can provide the hardware platform for VISA software served in the automatic testing system. It will be manufactured group by group.
