Students'assignment is one crucial element in everyday teaching activities of the primary and high schools. It's an important means for the students to deepen their understanding, mastery, digestion and absorption of the knowledge learned in class. Under the background which network has been widely used in all fields of the society, along with the integration between Internet and school network, network provides rich resources for education and teaching at school. Assignment on the Internet emerges as a new kind of task for people. At present, the regular assignment management in primary and secondary schools has various drawbacks which bring lots of troubles to schools and teachers. Besides, traditional systems of assignment management are mainly used in distance education of network colleges, while in the regular teaching activities of the primary and secondary schools it is rare to use assignment management system to manage teaching activities. Many assignment management systems which have been used in schools have been far from the basic needs of students in assignment management. Therefore, it's very important to design a set of systems of assignment management which suit modern educational model for primary and secondary schools.According to the needs of strengthening assignment management in primary and secondary schools, this thesis talks about the design and development of the Assignment Management System in Zaozhuang primary and secondary schools, tailoring to the developing situation of the present assignment management systems and real situation of education departments. With full focus on the prerequisite of interactivity, simplicity and visualization of software operation, this system can effectively help the students to hand in their assignment and help the teachers check students'assignments and give feedback through Internet. It also effectively improves the work efficiency and quality of school teaching and repeated usage rate of students' assignment in primary and secondary schools, thus to carry out modernized management in schools.After analyzing and studying the technical basis of establishing assignment management system, this thesis uses structured analysis methods to carry out a systematic analysis to the assignment management system, which mainly includes the detailed investigation and analysis of the needs of system user, organizational structure, function modules and so on. On the basis of systematic analysis, it combines with the theory of database and the actual needs of the current primary and secondary schools. The conceptual structure and logical structure of the system database are designed, and then the physical model system is proposed. This system selects Access, the Windows-based relational database management system, as the platform for software background development, adopting prevalent B/S (Browser/ Server) model structure in the current Internet network, using the simple and understandable VB Script and Jscript as the scripting language and combining HTML code as the development tool. Finally a simple, practical and user-friendly Assignment Management System with good extendibility has been developed.
