This paper has firstly introduces the research on the internal and external structure,transmission performance and design principle of the current commercial SFP optical module,and designs a test board suitable for SFP optical module according to the technical characteristics of SFP optical module.Then design a test scheme suitable for this test board according to the existing laboratory instruments and equipment and experimental conditions.Then make some study of PAM4 modulation technology,and designed an improved scheme based on SFP optical module then realized through experiments.The main research work of this paper is as follows:1.Independently designed and built the experimental test system,conducted performance index test and functional test on the existing commercial SFP/SFP+ optical module,including large-signal measurement and Small-signal frequency response measurement techniques,and studied its performance parameters and working principle.2.Design a test board suitable for SFP/SFP+ optical module.Through the impedance simulation of key signal line,the optimization of wiring rules,and the cascade design of circuit board,the bandwidth of the test board is improved to reach the signal transmission of 7-Ghz bandwidth.3.Based on the structure of SFP optical module,the optical device of SFP optical module is used to design an optical module capable of transmitting PAM4 format signals and the supporting link system by modifying the hardware structure.4.Designed an off-line digital signal processing(DSP)method to improve the quality of the optical image by means of filtering and interpolation in PAM4 optical communication transmission experiment.
