Nowadays, there are so many kind of wavelength in the DWDM system, the optical network nodes need more kind of optical modules. In order to ensure the reliability and stability of communication system, each optical module requires at least one backup module of the same wavelength, which leads to the low resource utilization, complicated module management, poor flexibility of optical network node and highly cost of network construction. In order to slove these problems, this paper designs 10G tunable optical module, which can switches wavelength over 90 channels,which is in the C band (1528-1568nm), and the frequency interval of each channel is 50 GHz, as well as the transmission distance up to 80 km.The design and implementation of 10G tunable SFP+ optical module is based on the DBR tunable laser. The main technologies involve the wavelength tuning, wavelength locking, power balance and TEC control. And the module can realize the wavelength locking by the PID algorithm, which is to improve the traditional position type PID algorithm. The improved PID algorithm can avoid wavelength failure caused by Ratio overshoot in the process of wavelength locking.Firstly, this paper mainly introduces the research background and significance of 10G tunable optical module, analyzes the tuning principle of DBR tunable laser, and determines the goal of this project according to 10G tunable optical module agreement —SFF-8690. Secondly, this paper discusses the principle of PID control algorithm, the position type theoretical derivation and incremental PID algorithm, and puts forward to determine the scheme of PID parameters, and improves the PID algorithm by combining with the principle of wavelength locking. Then this paper determines the overall design scheme of 10G tunable optical module, respectively from the transmitting, receiving part and TEC control circuit,and detailed analyzes the problems in design and puts forward the corresponding solutions.Then this paper has carried the comprehensive test on 10G tunable SFP+ optical module, and the results of the test show that all the indexes can meet the product requirements. Finally, the paper summarizes the full text and puts forward the problem to be solved and optimization problem in the next study.
