A Study Of News Production System

This research was based on the theory "The sociology of news production" and "Construction ". Sociology and journalism were used as related knowledge, and,3 important research methods:Quantitative Analysis, Qualitative analysis and Interview also were selected to help my job. I collected 4 newspapers'reports, "People's Daily", "China Youth Daily", "Anhui Daily", "XinAn Evening News", about the China Left-Behind Children from 2003 to 2009. Then I analysed them and summarized the status of the reporting. Furthermore, I also explored the News production mechanisms and underlying factors.The first part is an introduction, summarized a series of relevant research results, including China Left-Behind Children research, sociology of news production and media research about vulnerable groups. In addition, this part expatiated on research design, namely, research purpose, significance and innovation. Meanwhile, the feasibility of my research methods has been demonstrated in this part, thus ensuring the statistical accuracy and reliability of the results. Finally, I explained the reason why I chose this 4 newspaper, to ensure that the research is reasonable.The second part describes the overview of left-behind children reports, from several aspects:the reports quantity, reports quantity trends over time, the distribution of months, the report content, genre, format and keywords. There's theoretical basis on genre of reports, including news, in-depth reports, comments, etc. Forms of coverage and classification were based on analysis of the data. Take the reporting forms as example, I read through all the reports about the Left-Behind Children firstly, and then summarized in 4 forms:text, images, data, cartoons. This chapter not only includes the overall situation of media reports, there are also preliminary comparisons about various media.At the third part, by comparing the gatekeeper theory and construction, combined with news sociological theory, I constructed a new analytical framework. I think that the news production affected by the various social factors, not just by the "gatekeeper" (reporter), In this framework, I analyzed reports of left-behind children, with the data to prove, in order to explore the Chinese news production system.Chapter IV is to discuss how to coordinate the three kinds logic in news coverage-the publicity logic, market logic and information logic. During this seven years, all kinds of media have assumed different roles, media reports showed a distinct phase of Features. 2008, the main change was that the media coverage was to become superficiality and superficial, changes in media coverage affected public awareness about left-behind children,and even further to influence government policy. So I think the media should be fully aware of their role, coordinate the three kinds of logic, improve reports of left-behind children.
