The Study On News Media Reports Of Left-behind Children From The Perspective Of Framing Theory

The problem of the left-behind children has been the general topicthat the society concerned, and people talk about this topic more often.The news media have great social responsibility to report the problem ofthe left-children to the public correctly, draw the attention of the public tothis problem, help the left-behind children erect a good image, and finallyhelp the Party and the government solve this problem. Some emergenciesin the society harmed the left-behind children greatly, which warns us thatwe should solve the problem of left-behind children more seriously.This paper will be divided into four parts to analyze the left-behindchildren problem and reports of the left-behind children by the newsmedia. The first part analyzes the basic problem related to the left-behindchildren. Besides, this part will also analyze the reason of theleft-children problem.The second part mainly expounds the news media reports onproblems of left-behind children, taking the example of People’s Daily. The quantities, the angle, the types of news media reports have greatinfluence on the left-behind children. Meanwhile, the public can seedifferent left-children images from different news media reports. Thus,the reports will affect the public’s evaluation on the left-behind children,and also affect the left-behind children and the public’s understanding ofthe policies about left-behind children.The third part analyzes the reason and the results of the problemmentioned in the second part. The change of the reports’ quantities inPeople’s Daily shows its concern for the left-behind children. The changeof quantity reflects the change of quality, which shows that the reports donot break through the fixed and stereotyped pattern. The news mediashould make their own social responsibility clear, promote to solve thesocial problems and play the role of public opinion’s guide. The newsmedia should not only pay attention to economic benefits but also tosocial benefits, and should take social benefits as the priority. The fourthpart mainly states how the news media should properly report left-behindchildren problem and the solution of the problem. The reform of the system is the indispensable guarantee to the solution of the problem. TheMedia need to understand and report government policies, as well aspublicize and guide the aid of social organizations.
