The radar clutter simulation is an indispensable part in the radar signal simulation. In this Paper,the clutter models and simulation algorithms at Present are summarized. Based on typical models,clutters are generated on computer so as to study the feasibility of simulation algorithms.To simulate the clutter, first we should search for an accurate and fast algorithm which could generate series of sequence with a jointly specified amplitude distribution and correlation function. There are two typical kinds of methods for clutter simulation: one is called Zero Memory Nonlinearity transformation (ZMNL); the other one is called Spherically Invariant Random Process (SIRP); Each of these two methods has advantages and disadvantages. We could choose anyone according to our needs and clutter models.With a view to engineering application, this dissertation has discussed clutter's amplitude distribution model, frequency spectrum distribution model, principles and methods of clutter's modeling and simulation in detail from the point of view of theory. Based on all the above, correlated clutter and coherent correlated clutter of Rayleigh distribution, Lognormal distribution, Weibull distribution and K-distribution are simulated with methods of Zero Memory Nonlinearity Transformation and Spherically Invariant Random Process.At last, the author introduced a real-time clutter simulation which was applied on the Radar Clutter Simulator project by using C language in the embedded Vxworks. the simulator can process 16 kinds of ground clutter, weather clutter and chaff clutter.
