With the rapid development of electric power enterprise informationization, a variety of applications containing advanced management ideas began to replace the existing system, or integrated into the new information system ranks. Since the emergence of these new systems, IT hardware investment of electric power enterprises is also growing, which resulted in the increasing of PC servers amounts, and replacing a large number of servers by better performance of servers. Therefore, enterprises need more technical staff to operate and maintaine the services resulting continued increasing of enterprise IT investment. Therefore, we hope that the implementation of virtualization technology can reasonably reduce the enterprises cost in the host hardware, improving work efficiency, and completing the construction ,operation and maintenance work better.With the development of Internet, the PC servers integration, the virtual machine and the resource management demands, the virtualization technology entered a prosperous times. Presently, the virtualization technology's advantage has obtained the universal approval. Because of the virtualization technology, which has raised the availability of resources, and ensured the energy conservation & environmental protection, it obtained more and more favor among users. The virtualization technology's popularization will become the informationization technological development the inevitable trend. The thesis elaborated the electric power enterprise information system which hypothesized the necessity and the sophistication of services environment of information system establishment . According to the actual constructing situation in Northeast Branch of China Grid Company, the thesis introduced the virtualization technology's concept and the foundation construction, which elaborated with emphasis the popular virtualization software VMware applied into the project. Through the scientific and reasonable system planning and the appraisal computation, the project implementation risk was reduced. The evolutionary system enhanced the hypothesized server environment, and further expanded the virtualization technology application in the Northeast of china grid company and provided the theory basis and the experience.Then, the VMware vSphere technology, one of the newest in VMware platform software serves as the object of study, which focuses on the advantages of its platform, working principle, functional components and virtualization efficiency assessment. Through data collecting and interception combining the functioning index of 13 physical servers were identified suitable for transformation, which can be used as the first candidates in the initial application of virtual environments. It conducted a server consolidation ratio calculation and determined the standard of the six units hp dl580 server as the first batch of 13 virtual server's hardware load entity; It conducted a system virtual switches and virtual networks, which storage and manage the design and configuration required to form a complete virtual platform environment.Finally, the virtual server was tested. Through the implementation of VMware technology and experiments ,it proved the fact that server virtualization solutions is feasible, the use of virtualization technology to helps save the cost in funds and operation, and improve operational efficiency, flexibility and IT service levels of the many benefits; The trial run through the problems found in analysis of the program out of the system tuning, that the system tuning process improves system availability and reliability, in order to further expanding the conditions for applications.After this transformation of server virtualization, it improves traditional management model in server operation and maintenance, eliminates the need for the server procurement, shelving, installation links, virtual server, flexible allocation and dynamic management. IT managers can work on a single PC to manage the administrating of these virtual machine, which greatly reduced administrators'workload.Virtualization platform environment run their applications on a variety of high-availability solutions, which has brought with application migration, automatic fault isolation. The system automatically reconstruct the high-reliability server application environments. The use of server virtualization technology and the deployment of loosely coupled business applications achieve the Northeast Power Grid's server applications and meticulous management.Through building the development test environment based on the virtual server, the life-cycle managing model was introduced, which helps achieve the new project exploiting, operating and transporting. The new investment management process also eliminates the tedious server on-line steps, accelerates the development and application of new business, speeds up the development of enterprises and provides better service.Through the applying of virtualization technology, 10 units or more physical devices can be integrated into a single server. Besides the cost and power consumption can be reduced to 80-90%. In addition, it upgrades the ratio of applications and servers from 1:1 to 10:1 or higher, which saves a considerable amount of pre-purchase and post-operation costs. It makes a significant contribution in creating a green environment protection and energy companies.This thesis proved that the suite of virtualization software and VMware vSphere in the power industry have played an important role in the informationization of power grid industry. Also, it is one of the optimization options in realizing intelligent power grid data center. It could realize the fully dynamic measurable control of resources and it satisfies the need of a variety of applied programs. With the dynamic resource control functions, there is need to care about how much memory and other resources allocated to the appropriate server. Similarly, a large-scale server clusters built by VMware ESX Server, can save a huge server hardware costs and enhance business applications stability and continuity.
