A Study On Means Of Scientific Communication Based On The Internet

Scientific communication is not only the indispensable part of science, but a basic mechanism on which science exists and develops as well.The advent and popularization of the Internet has brought a whole new way for scientific communication. This paper tries to do a systematic study on the new way of scientific communication based on the Internet from the perspective of philosophy of science and sociology of science.First of all, the scientific communication and its important role in the historical development of science have been expatiated. After summarizing the forms and characteristics of the traditional scientific communication which is based on the paper media, the article affirmed the important role that the traditional way of scientific communication has played in the history of science. However the traditional way of scientific communication has been in trouble in the contemporary situation of science and technology development.And than, the new way of scientific communication based on the Internet has been expatiated and analyzed systematically. In chapter 3, we introduce technological background, development and main forms of the new way of scientific communication and discuss its characteristics and advantages. We argued that the Internet-based scientific communication is faster and broader with lower cost. In chapter 4, we analyze its impact on modern scientific research, and argue that common scientists will have more chance and virtual research organizations will also appear due to open science and online cooperation. In conclusions, the Internet-based scientific communication is helpful in improving efficiency of scientific research and accelerating the process of modern science.Finally, we also point out that as a new form of scientific communication, the Internet-based scientific communication has a lot of problems due to its premature. In order to address these problems, some recommendations have been proposed in this article in hopes of improving the level of scientific research in our country.
