| This research selected 512 reports on China Daily from the year 2007-2009 as researching samples and made a content analysis of them. Through the analysis, the author explored the characteristics of the news selection both from the news value and the balance of the news facts. At the same time, the author explored the background factors that may influence such selection model under the guidance of the international communication theory. Finally, the author proposed some suggestions for the selection of the news for international communication based on the problems existed in it.The research revealed the following characteristics of the news value selection of China Daily, political and economic news is a priority; pursue the empathy among readers home and abroad; pay emphasis on the capability of entertaining readers. China Daily has made a strong balance in reporting among the field of the news reports, the place of the news taken place, positive and negative reports, and even the eastern and western camps. However, more work still needs to be done when it refers to the news sources balance. The research revealed that a series of factors had influenced the news selection of China Daily, the Cross-language, the cross-centennial, and the cross-culture factors during international communication. In the end, the author proposed the following suggestions based on the problems existed in China Daily's news selection, the paper should pursue multiple news sources, and it should provide more news perspectives from China to gain more international readers to become one of the most popular media in the world as soon as possible. |
