| China Daily is the first and only national English-language newspaper in China. It is an important source of information about China for its readers abroad, and it is widely recognized as China's most authoritative English-language publication. China Daily has done a great contribution to China's international communication.During more than twenty years'development, China Daily has taken effort to improve itself. During the early years of new millennium, it has already experienced reformations twice which happened in 2004 and 2007 respectively. Its articles have attached more importance to the news value.Forty-eight front-pages of China Daily from 2002 to 2007 have been chosen as researching samples. With the data collection, the thesis has analyzed China Daily's improvements and the deficiencies in the respect of news value.According to the present situation and this research results, China Daily should enhance the pertinence, closeness, significance, interests of its reports. And at the same time, it should attach more importance to the reader survey.The combination of the two points mentioned above would win China Daily more international readers and help it to move towards its goal of becoming a world-famous news media. |
