| With the development of communication technologies and the increasing demand forinformation, the international news is more and more favored by the readers, and the internationalnews coverage has also been concerned by the news agencies. In this paper, the object of study isthe international news chosen from the China Daily and the New York Times, and analyzed thesimilarities and differences in international news coverage between the two.In this paper, the research methods such as statistics, text analysis, and qualitative have beenadopted. It has paralleled with layout design, coverage amounts, coverage area, the subject ofcoverage, pictures, headlines, news leaders, quotations and so on, analyzed the cause of thedifferences in the news reporting between the two.Through the analysis of the two, it is found that the China daily getting closer to the leadingnewspaper of the West, thus except to the differences, this two papers has many similarities. Theamount of the news coverage of China Daily is less than the New York Times, and most of themfrom abroad of news agency. In addition, china daily has focused on political, diplomatic, softnews, and more. As for writing features and news language, it has the mark of a certain amount ofpublicity. On the contrast of New York Times, the original of the news always from reporter feeds,it has focused on war, politics, economic news reporting, and pursuited of authenticity andobjectivity of news in the report. Differences between the two newspapers reflecting the differentfunction of mainstream media in this two countries, as well as in the maintenance of their socialsystems and ideologies.Based on the analysis of international news coverage between China daily and the New YorkTimes, this paper hopes to provide insights practice and theory for the international news coverageof China. |
