With the increasing popularization of healthcare information technology, various information systems are introduced into medical institutions. However, Due to the gradualness and dispersion of informatization construction, these systems are independent. They adopt dissimilar technologies and specifications, run on different platforms and form isolated information islands among which it is difficult to exchange and share information. So how to integrate heterogeneous healthcare information systems efficiently to exchang and share disperse and heterogeneous healthcare information has become an actual problem in medical institutions.ECG examination is one of the most popular examinations in hospital and widely used for heart disease diagnoses. However, the standardization and integration ability of ECG information systems fall far behind those of imaging system. The development of standardization and integration of imaging system should owe to the wide application of IHE and DICOM, which provides a reference to system integration for other medical fields. Currently, there are many ECG standards leading to disordered application. But the IHE does not publish integration profile to address information interactions and standard implementations in the process of ECG ordering, scheduling, acquiring, storing and interpreting. There is no uniform specification for vendors to choose and implement standards for system integration. So it is necessary to define ECG IHE integration profile to abstract system integrations related to ECG and provide criterions for system development and integration of vendors.This thesis profoundly analyzed integration requirements of ECG information system in medical institutions and solutions to products of system vendors. We defined an ECG IHE integration profile according to the principle of IHE. Besides, we analyzed HL7 and mainstream ECG standards, selected and optimized HL7 message and HL7 aECG standards to define the reference implementation of integration profile and implement simulation finally. This profile is the abstract of ECG information system integration and extension of the existing IHE Cardiology Technical Framework. It defined integration interfaces for ECG-related clinical systems based on open standards, therefore promoted the exchanging and sharing of ECG information and provided a basis for plug-and-play of ECG-related systems.
