With the rapid development of power industry and the improvement of network operation and management, especially the rise of smart grid construction, a new round of distribution management system (DMS) building is setting off. DMS has a large amount of information interfaces and systems, needs to exchange a lot of information between systems. These various systems exist in an isolation form due to lacking of uniform standards and specifications. They could neither contact, share information and collaborative business with each other, nor play the synergies and effect on the enterprise-level management decisions. With the introduction of Common Information Model (CIM), many system using some middleware (CORBA, etc) to interact others follow this model. Because of a lot of dependence, these systems are very complex to manage and hard to maintenance. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) proposed 61968 series to facilitate inter-application integration, which could connect disparate applications that are already built or new and supported by dissimilar runtime environments, of the various distributed software application systems. Distribution management consists of power supply and distribution business, different business has different component, different application vendors has different encapsulation with these abstract component. IEC 61968 series standards define an Interface Reference Model for DMS, which classifies these components according to business functions to ensure that they are vendor-neutral. In addition, these standards also propose an information exchange model to support information exchanging between components using a unified message format in the communication network. These standards have a great value for the power industry's inter-application integration. As the new technologies continue to progress, Java Message Service (JMS), Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) technologies are becoming mature. Especially the technology of ESB, which changes the traditional software architecture, provides location transparency, protocol conversion, message format conversion, etc, eliminates the divergence between applications using different technology or platform, is being widely used in many enterprises. Using ESB as the middleware service laid a solid foundation in inter-application integration. This subject is based on the research of IEC 61968 series standards (partial), and the technology of JMS and ESB, implements an ESB following IEC 61968 standards, provides a feasible reference for the further implementation of enterprise-class application.
