Content Management System (CMS) is the specific application designed for the content editing and publishing on internet website. CMS manages the entire background data and information of the website, thereof efficiently reducing the maintenance cost and the complexity of setting up various types of information websites. CMS facilitates the high efficient enterprise information processing management. In this thesis, the background and research progress status of the CMS is introduced. And the relevant technology and theory is discussed. With the analysis of system requirements and software architecture, the Struts Framework, Spring Framework, Hibernate technology and Velocity Template are applied in building the application and development architecture of enterprise portal content management systems; the detailed design and implementation of the persistent layer, the presentation layer and the business logic layer is given; particularly emphasizes on the discussion of the design and implementation of content operation subsystem, publishing subsystem and template management subsystem which are all based on this architecture. Possible improvements for the current system problems are given at the end of the thesis. The test results show that the system presented in this thesis is developed based upon the advanced J2EE technology and three-layer B/S structure, using the object-oriented design ideas and SSH framework. It substantially meets the requirement towards reliability, scalability and reusability.
