| Faced with increasingly fierce market competition and customers' diverse needs, it has been difficult for SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) in China to maintain competitive edge by low-cost. Enhancing product development capability is imperative. Appling information technology is an effective way to achieve this. According to the status of SMEs informatization survey, CAD applications are more common than product development management system. Therefore, this thesis presents a SME-oriented product development management system, and studies its structure as well as its implementation based on CAD applications. A jewelry development management system was realized to demonstrate the rationality and realizability of the SME-oriented product development management system. The main work of the thesis includes:In chapter 1, the status of SMEs informatization was described and the researches in product development management related fields were reviewed. On the basis of the proposed shortage of the present research, the content and architecture of the thesis was given.In chapter 2, the process of product development for SMEs is analyzed based on jewelry business and automotive motor business. Then the requirements of product development management system for SMEs were analyzed from three aspects: supporting product development process, providing design knowledge, and managing design resources.In chapter 3, the structure of the SME-oriented product development management system was presented. The technology for supporting the product development process, design knowledge representation and reasoning, design resource management, and clients based on CAD applications were researched.In chapter 4, the theory of previous two chapters was used to design and realize a jewelry development management system, showing the rationality of the system design and implementation feasibility of the method.In chapter 5, the research in this thesis and a prospect for the future research work were summarized. |
