To tackle the challenge of broadband access technology with WIMAX as its core and to adapt and meet the demand of mobile communication market, the international organization for standardization 3GPP launched the LTE project at the end of the year 2004, and at the same time, a work plan was also made. The target of the project is to provide higher data transmission speed and reduce the cost of the development and resource allocation. The LTE system uses an implementation method of frequency domain based on DFT-SOFDM as its uplink SC-FDMA system. It can reduce the uplink transmission peak mean ratio very well and also the cost and power consumption of the terminal considerably. In this paper, the FFT modules and encoding modules of DFT-SOFDM are designed and implemented. In the design of FFT module, a 64 point FFT system is designed by use of the method of FFT in accordance with time divide two, and all sub modules are designed in detail and the simulation waveforms are obtained at the same time, and finally the whole FFT processor is composed of all sub modules by the connection of VHDL top-level files. And in the design of encoding module, Turbo coding is used. Firstly the original information sequence is produced by the pseudo-random sequence generator, and this is later used to judge the correctness of decoding. Afterwards through the component coding of the two RSC encoders and then by use of the rank interleaves whose length is 4 bits, the interleaving function is achieved. The hardware design of each of modules above and a detailed description of all ports are given. And the overall module design of the Turbo coder and its ports settings are also given in this paper.
