With the advent of the era of knowledge economy, enterprises must depend on the intelligence and knowledge of the organization in order to seize the opportunities during the competition. Particularly in the knowledge-based enterprises and organizations such as the telecommunication industry, IT research and development sectors and the consulting firms, the value of the knowledge assets far exceed that of the material assets, and contribute to the core competitiveness of these enterprises.In recent years, with rapid development of the domestic telecommunication industry, China Mobile Hangzhou Branch undergoes speedy expanding as well. Meanwhile, this fast growing accompanies a drastic increase of the company's internal knowledge assets of various types, and then results in numerous increasingly prominent enterprise knowledge management issues. How effectively managing and using the enterprise knowledge of China Mobile Hangzhou Branch to further enhance its operational efficiency and effectiveness, thus, is of great concern.In this paper, I reviewed the literatures in knowledge management and enterprise knowledge portal, classified and defined the enterprise knowledge and its role based on the knowledge management problems existed in China Mobile Hangzhou Branch, established a frame structure of enterprise knowledge portal of China Mobile Hangzhou Branch, and also investigated the fundamental services and the major functionalities of the enterprise knowledge portal of Hangzhou Branch. Furthermore, I focused on studying the application of the knowledge portal in knowledge management. The emphasis was put on utilizing the knowledge portal application tools in three stages of knowledge management: basic knowledge framework creation, knowledge operation and conversion, and knowledge maturation and fixation.
