As information plays a more and more important role in modern society, it is quite necessary to coordinate, synthesize and make full use of all sorts of information, which can be done through computer networks, or what is usually called Management Information System (MIS). Under the organization of the Department of Electromechanical Materials and the Department of Information Management from Ertan, researches, development and implementation of MIS were listed on an agenda formally in May,2006, with the aim of both meeting the demands of"Basin,Collectivization and Scientific"management and enhancing the efficiency of management of electromechanical materials.By incorporating the thoughts of Software Engineering into MIS and following the steps of development of MIS, this thesis designs and realizes MIS in Ertan by using C/S Model, IFS Foundation 1 software from Beijing UF IFS as the development instrument and Oracle Database Management System from ORACLE as the backstage database. During the process of designing, the main content and method of the MIS are introduced according to the logical sequence of MIS development from such perspectives as the demand analysis, general function design, database design and details design. Included in the content and method are business flow chart, system structure diagram, database design, the key technologies during the process of implementation, limit of authority, report design and part of the windows about the Management of Supply Plan.Judging from the working results, the designed MIS is able to conduct a series of work on materials in an effective manner, which enhances the efficiency substantially. The system structure is actually different from the material management system in general sense according to its overall design, development and application. It has been established as whole-process and omnidirectional management control system for hydropower development material management.
