RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) techenoledge is one method of identification which realizes the bidirection communication by wireless channel. The application of RFID is widly used as its unique advantages of non-touching identify and read of multiple targets at the same time, identifying of high speed moving object, withstanding of worst environment and excellent encryption.More and more issues about food and public security caused by animal has arose the attention on the society. The occurrence of SARS in 2003 made us known more about the necessary to track and manage animals. With the gradually promotion of feeding and scientific management, the electronic automatically identify system is so urgently requested by modern animal husbandry.Depending on the radio identification technique to design the active animal identification and tracking system which works on 2.45GHz as a target. It is an effective suppor for animal food and public security.The main the contents are listed as following:1. The working principle of RFID is introduced, together with the deeply research on the stability, power and distance of read and write, another key technologies of sourceable radio identification technique in this paper. The whole radio identification system of electronic tag and Reader is analysed and presented from the application point.2. The reading target of portable radio tag reader is electronic tag. The detail design of electronic tag like radio circuit, controlling circuit and power supply part are introduced. At the mean time, the software solution and relevant application interface functions are also discussed in the thesis.3. In order to make portable radio tag reader more compatiable for the requirement of out door operation in farming, the ultra low power dissipation radio ASIC and micro controller has been used; the intelligent and portabily of reader is improved by using memory and human-machine interface; C language has been used in order to realize micro controller working in the different low power mode.4. The testing results indicate that the portable radio tag reader achieves the indicators as following: the distance of read/write is up to 50 meter, the uninterrupted read/write duration longer than 7 days, the standby duration of tag and reader are longer than 30 days and 8 days seperatlly.
