Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a contact-less technology which uses wireless radio frequency communication to identify objects automatically. RFID was born with its identification advantages of long distance, high speed, and strong penetration. With the wide spread of RFID applications, more and more attentions are paid for RFID to take up wilder market. And the design and solution of RFID application are getting improved everyday.Warehouse Management System (WMS) is one of the earliest RFID applications. While WMS has had successful solutions for application with huge cargo, these solutions still could not meet the accuracy demands of application with small cargo, because such application has the characters of small-size cargo and dense tags.To solve these problems, this paper has studied the characters of application with small cargo and RFID. And then under the EPC Global protocols frame, a RFID WMS for small cargo was designed and implemented. On the base of fixed reader's large-scale identification, this system appends new equipment named Handheld Terminal. And new software is designed and implemented in Handheld Terminal to improve the identification accuracy in the situation of dense tags. In this way, fixed readers and Handheld Terminal could well work together to get higher performance of the warehouse work flow. As the core of WMS, Warehouse Management Center (WMC) coordinates fixed readers and Handheld Terminal and improve the fixed reader performance by using channel anti-interfere algorithm. Received task from WMC, Handheld Terminal software guide workers to work in shelves, identify tags and finish the task with high accuracy.
