With the development of economy and technology, Automated Storage andRetrieval System have been widely applied in warehouse management system,which generates higher requirements for movement operation in warehouses.Wired communication mode is adopted in traditional warehouse, which results inobvious disadvantages of high cost and complexity for wiring. In recent years,WiFi accessing technology has been used because of many advantages includingwide coverage, fast transmitting speed, no wiring. Aiming at this phenomenon, akind of handheld terminal for warehouse management is proposed. WiFitechnology is used to solve the wiring issue in traditional warehousemanagement, and RFID technology is utilized to assist the goods managementinformation in this handheld terminal. The main work is summarized as follows:The core board and functional board of handheld terminal for warehousemanagement are designed. The core board is consisted of low power ARM7chipS3C44B0processor and storages. The functional board is consisted of88W8686chip that accomplish the WiFi communication, MF RC522chip that accomplishthe RFID function, and LCD interface, power module, and so on.The simulation of handover algorithm based on preprocessing between theAP is implemented. By means of analyzing the reason of the traditional handoveralgorithm’s long time delay and in order to reduce power consummation broughtby handover, the handover algorithm based preprocessing between the AP is used,which is simulated in MATLAB.The development of WiFi module driver is accomplished. μCLinux ischosen as the operation system. The modification and transplanting of Bootloader,μCLinux kernel and root file system is accomplished, and WiFi module driver istested.Through the test, the handheld terminal transmits information withinWLAN, which meets the needs of warehouse management. So it supplies a reference for improving the automation in warehouse management.
