XLPE cable is the popularized electric power cable in our country at preset. XLPE cables production lines all use multi-unit and multi-step production technology in our country, moreover, most of them must be imported, therefor research the XLPE cables production lines is of important significance. This dissertation designs an automatic control system which uses PLC as the main controller and includes the Industrial Personal Computer, DC Drive, Frequency-converter, Electronic Balance, Solenoid-controlled Valve and Relay.This dissertation consists of temperature control and rotational speed control of extruder, electronic balance control, safety alarm of system and EMC of system.There are 25 temperature control points in this system. 21 of them should be controlled, and the other 4 points are temperature measurement points. PID algorithm is used to control the high-accuracy points, and as to the other lower accuracy points, hysteresis comparing algorithm is used.Rotational speed control includes DC motor control and asynchronous machine control. DC drive and frequency-converter are controlled by PLC through PROFIBUS-DP. The rotational speed of DC motor and asynchronous machine is controlled by DC drive and frequency-converter.IPC controls the electronic balance through serial port and the running states of the electronic balance are transmitted to the IPC through serial port.To make sure the system works safely, audible alarm and color scintillation alarm are set, and if the alarm happens, the corresponding system failures can be handled.To make sure the system works stably, the dissertation researches EMC of the system. This mainly includes earth connection, geographical and wiring.Running states of all equipments are sent to the IPC to be monitored by the operator expediently, and the system allows the operator to set and modify some necessary parameter and deal with the special actions of the system.This dissertation analyses and designs all the parts of the electronic control system in detail, carries out corresponding debugging in the scene, and builds the good foundation for normal and stability work of the production line.
