As the technology is making progress rapidly in microelectronics, the feature size has reduced below 130nm, and the 65nm process has been in practical use.Thanks to the continuous improvement of integrated circuit technology, microprocessors are developing generation after generation, and the performance is improved rapidly. The X processor is a 64-bits high performance processor . We use a semi-custom and full-custom mixed design method to enhance its performance, reduce design cycle and cost. In the design we optimize the standard cell library and implement the three-port Register File with a full-custom design method. It is a big challenge to design the chip under the mixed design pattern. Research on semi-custom and full-custom mixed design of X processor is important practical significance and valuable in a wide range of applications.This thesis mainly contributes to the following three aspects.1. Making a study of the standard cell in the semi-custom flow design.Variety of self-designed high-performance standard cell flip-flop in order to enrich the types of standard cell libraries, design of experiments show that the performance is better than the factory trigger type flip-flop.2. Customization of the entire flow of the register file design was studied.Designed to achieve a method different from the traditional 3-port register file, read the register file of the circuit is not sensitive amplifier circuit, thereby enriching the diversity of memory design techniques, design of experiments show that the connection has a small register file, the territory of easy implementation, timing control, and the advantages of stable performance.3. The integration of Semi-custom and full custom system.On self-designed full-custom standard cell and a block in practice, effective use of existing EDA tools, the semi-custom and full-custom integration of organic flow together. Through the use of self-designed unit of a microprocessor to carry out the physical X implementation, experimental results show that the performance meets the required standard.
