Virtual Instruments can realize the functions which regular instruments have and don't have,with the full use of computer resource and customized software and hardware. "Software is instrument" breaks through the traditional conception of instrument.Virtual instrument has been widely used in many fields,such as measurement,testing and automation.The design of Virtual Instruments software is in relation to the technology and equipment of the application object,testing scheme,mechanical devices,instrumentation, computer hardware and software,etc.In the regular designing,the method directs to the given requirement and fixed resources,there are strict correspondence between the code and the requirement and resources.Now,the testing and fault diagnosis of the core of control unit has taken the way of recalling the equipments.The equipment has been put in dedicated environment to detect.However,the correction of fault diagnosis not only depends on core control unit itself,but depends on the application system in which control unit works,so the on-site diagnosis becomes the technology trends,and companies focus on this fields.There are some problems in on-site application,such as the unknown user's environment,not sufficient on-site resource.The current software design method is not applicable to such a situation so that it is very difficult to code.In this paper,we raise a design method for on-site application-oriented virtual instrument,introducing process and process group to achieve the adaptability between code and application requirement and reduce the requirement of designers' professional field knowledge and computer ability. Using this method,resource and demand could match when needed to realize on-site equipment "plug & play",and solve the virtual instrument design in the circumstance of uncertainty. First,this paper introduces the development and research status of virtual instrument, and raises a design method for on-site application-oriented virtual instrument(OAVI). Second,during the design of OAVI,this paper introduces the classified descriptions of resource,the foundation of resource library,the software function adaptation based on process and resource,the setting up of testing platform.Finally,one example is given, which proves that the method presented is feasible and effective.
