In recent years, USB interface has become more and more popular. It has the features of easy-to-use, high transmission speed and so on. With the rapid development of USB interface, the type and quantity of the USB devices is increasing. The design and verification of the USB device controller is done in this paper, based on the USB bus protocol and communication theory.USB protocol is very complex. The data, using NRZI coding and bit stuffed as well as CRC checksum, takes the form of differential signal to transmit on the bus. Here, the USB bus protocol and communication theory, focusing on the packet structure and classification as well as four USB data transfer types is expounded. The design of the USB device controller for the division and design of modular function and structure have finished, using top-down design method. In the verification, the functional simulation, timing simulation and verification of hardware acceleration of the design have been done in this paper.Finally, a verification circuit, designed with modular division and separate independent designing methods, aproaches a flexible environment for verification. Furthermore, two-channel data acquisition model is created during the verification. With mixed signal oscilloscope and embedded logic analyzer in quartusII software, details of data transfer can be observed in two ways, which comparison between each other can ensure the correctness of the design and verification.
