Image-building On Public Library

Library image is objective reality of reflecting the state of public library, public library image accompanied by the emergence and development of public library. The public library as a social institution to provide public welfare services, its image related to their survival and development. To improve and upgrade the image of public library, we must take the initiative to build the image of public library. And public library as a social system, there are various factors affecting on its image. So, on the basis of concluding past relevant research, this paper made deepen research on the basic question of public library image, and formed systematic recognize. This thesis provided the theoretical basis and methodology guidance for image-building on public library. At the same time, also sought to establish a scientific and reasonable public library image evaluation index system, and provide useful reference for evaluating the image of public libraries. The main contents are as following:(1) Elaborates the concept and composition of public library image, poses that it includes individual image and plant image, and be made up of idea, visual, behavior three parts. Also analyzes four factors impact on it: library body, social environment, library history.(2) Discusses the effect of image-building on public library from library body and society two angle, and poses the overall goals also.(3) Analyzes the main subject of image-building on public library, four subjects as follows: public library, government, social organization, and mass media.(4) Disserts four rules: seeking truth from facts, systematicness and compatibility, development, characteristic; the overall mind: eliminating bad image, building good image, protecting good image.(5) The analysis surrounds to construction the evaluation index system for public library image, introduce the function of evaluating library image, and state the principle of index-choosing and index system-designing, pose two evaluating dimension: recognition and reputation, construct the index system preliminary.
