This article classified the main categories of the new media by communication model and profit model. And five case studies including "people.com.cn", "PPS", "QQ Space", "taobao.com" and "kaixin001.com" have been done. It aims to find the connection between the communication model and the profit model of the new media; then the future of the new media can be clearer.As the new media develops so fast, a huge unbalance has arisen in the new media that has never been found in the traditional media. For one thing, more and more corporations flourished in the new media field; and for another, the profit model is still unclear. So the studies of new media must broaden its sights, jump out of the Communication.Based on the papers of the journals such as "Modern Communication" and "Xin Wen Jie", and the database of VIP from 2006 to 2008, this article generalized the main five kind of new media that the academia focused, which is weblized traditional media, video websites, blog websites, E-Commerce and SNS. And according to the China Internet Index System, this article chose "people.com.cn", "PPS", "QQ Space", "taobao.com" and "kaixin001.com" for further case study.There are four main parts of this article. The first part is the Introduction. It covers the issue proposition and the structure of the whole article. The second part introduces the general development situation of the industry of the new media; and proposed the dual sights for new media study. The third part contains Chapter III and Chapter IV, which is the major part. According to different function in the communication model, the new media can be divided into two categories, one is content media, and the other is platform media. Each case study is analyzed based on the two sights. And the last part concludes Chapter V and Chapter VI, which looks ahead the future of the communication and profit model of the new media and makes a conclusion.
