The Research On The Application Of Network Teaching System Under Linux Environment

With the rapid development of the computer network technology, the traditional teaching model has been constantly changed by the network teaching. The Open source movement offer an optimum opportunity for the development of the network teaching. The design and application of the open source education software is sparkpluged by education departments all over the world, and many kinds of open source network teaching systems are coming forth. Moodle is one of the most famous network teaching systems. In this dissertation, Moodle on Linux is analyzed, and further-development based on Moodle is studied. The main objective in this dissertation can be shown as follows.(1) The meaning of the open source software and its advantages in education are analyzed. Combining with the characteristics and functions of the network teaching system, the significance of the open source network teaching software are clarified. Through comparing the existence open source network teaching system, such as Moodle, ATutor and Sakai, the result shows that Moodle is the best open source teaching software which has powerful functions and has been widely used. The functions and characteristics of the Moodle are discussed in detail, and it is the theoretical basis for the practice application of the Moodle.(2) The further-development technology of the Moodle is researched. Through analyzing the structure, main catalog and file of Moodle, and according to the collectivity stipulation of Moodle, three forms of further-development for Moodle are proposed. They are the further-development of language package, topic style and the modules. And the implementation methods are also proposed, which makes preparation for the further-development of Moodle.(3) The conception of expanding a network answer activity module on Moodle is proposed according to the need of the practice applications of Moodle. After functional analysis and design, the network answer module is accomplished by using the technique of the further-development strictly. It is a successful practice of the further-development on Moodle.In the end, the research work about this dissertation is summarized and the next goal is also put forward.
