Take the Characteristic that the railway breakdown crane contains lots of dangerous factors and needs higher work efficiency into account. Under the study of the crane security monitoring system at home and abroad, an advanced visualization new and original monitoring system for crane is developed, which takes advantage of the technology progress in the fields such as electronic,computer,sensing,controlling and Simulation.In this system, the transfer of the data are based on CAN field bus. The system is consisted of one main node and several minimum nodes. The minimum node is composed of MCU P87C591 and some outer-ring's circuit. It collects the work situation parameters of the railway breakdown crane delivered by the sensor and gives some appropriate adjust and communicate with main node though the CAN module. The main node is composed of IPC,Windows operation system and application and CAN interface card. It takes charge of the handling of the parameters delivered by the basic nodes and unfolds it to the operator through a visible way. It also calculates the limited weight of the crane and compares it to the actual weight. When the actual weight reaches 90% of the limited weight, pre-alarm signal will be sent out. When reaches 100%, alarm signal will be sent out. When reaches 105%, control signal will be sent out. By the control to the electromagnetic valve of the hoisting mechanism and the slewing mechanism, lying down the crane jib or slewing to the dangerous direction will be restricted.On account of the perfection of the system function. The idea top-to-bottom is used in the design process of the system. Overall resolution and division of software and hardware function are ascertained at first.Keil C51 is used to develop the control program of the basic nodes. The development of main node is divided into CAN field bus interface card develop and Windows application develop. The interface between CAN bus and IPC is a non-intelligent interface card. It realizes the communication between low-layer and IPC parallel port by an independent CAN-controller SJA1000. The upper-layer visualization Windows application is a simulation program developed by VC++ and OpenGL. It simulates the work situation of the crane with reference of the real work condition parameters delivered from the low-layer. A Series of software and hardware protection methods are adopted.
