The Design Of HDTV Set-top Box

Along with the wide application of HDTV and digital television broadcasting, more and more family are going to buy HDTV. But there are few commercial television sets are really HDTV that can directly receive digital TV signal or with set-top box in it. In fact, most of family use set-top box for transfer digital TV signal to analogue signal which can be recognized by TV set. Many set-top boxes at current market can only output analogue signal, but can not realize high definition function, so the advantages of digital TV can not be exactly shown.The research in this paper is to design a advanced set-top box that have input ports for analogue and digital signal, and have real HDTV standard output signal. So, based on the designed set-top box, many digital or analogue signals even like output signal of DVD player and game player can be accepted and be transferred to both digital standard signals and analogue signals which then be received by TV set, therefore give the user a exactly high definition pictures on TV.The designed set-top box has been applied in practice and appreciated by the foreign customs.
