Research History, Status And Theoretical Reflection Of Media Ecology In Both North America And China

Media Ecology was originated in North America in the beginning of 20^th century which combines media research and ecology research. Media Ecology in North America has a history of near a century, however, it is a brand new subject in china. There are not many articles on studying Media Ecology, especially ones that reflect the theoretical history of the subject. This article uses methods such as historical analysis method, comparative method and literature research method to study in detail North America and China Media Ecology's historical development and status quo. North America's Media Ecology research can be divided into three phrases. The originate of media ecology, the founding of media ecology subject, the development of media ecology. This article elaborates the reason why media ecology was founded in North America and introduces some very important scholars who contribute much to that subject. The research focus and content are also the main subject of this article.China's media ecology was a new subject which originate just 10 years ago. There are many differences between North America and China's research: such as the background and condition, the research focus, the angle, the researching methods China's media ecology lacks learning tradition and the edge of the subject is very unclear, North America research also has many disadvantages. I recommend merging these two researches into one, use harmonious, balanced and humanism principle to found a brand new Media Ecology which has the advantages of both China and North America's research.
