Design Of The Software System For Radar Plots Simulator Based On Linux

With the evolution of radar technology, the development costs of modern radars are becoming expensive. However, the radar simulator can generate the radar targets and environment information for the back-end equipments. It can reduce the costs of radar's performance testing, shorten the period of debugging and provide effective solutions to meet the demand of modern radar system design and training. Therefore, it is more and more important to develop radar simulators.Firstly, the development and application of radar simulator in the world is introduced, and then the theory as well as the techniques of radar simulation are discussed, the key point is the functional simulation of radar targets and clutter. After that, the main design of the radar plots simulator is presented, especially the programming and implementation of the software system. The system is based on the general PC and Linux OS, employs Qt graphic tool kit and C++ programming language to realize. This system adopts multithread skill to accomplish three functions, including simulating radar target plots and clutter plots, developing the display and control interface, as well as transmitting the radar simulation data. Finally, the simulation and the test results are presented. The results show that the software system of the radar plots simulator can successfully provide the data for the back-end equipments and achieves the design requirements.
