The monitoring system of water regimen is an automatic system which adopts the computer communication technology to conduct data collection, transmission and data processing about the water regimen in river network and resevoir. It is often used to measure and forecast water regimen, especially, at the critical time of flood and typhoon prevention, it can report the water regimen promptly, stably, safely and accurately. At present, it has become a very necessary assistant system to conduct a real-time and dynamic monitoring of water regimen and rain fall in the flood prevention work.This article elaborates the basic principle of automatic monitoring system of water regimen based on GPRS, a wireless automatic network for monitoring hydrology, and some pratical measures of monitoring system of water regimen based on GPRS according to the author's rich experience in flood prevention. GPRS overcomes the weakness of the traditional automatic hydrology monitoring network in data collection and transmission, and makes it true to automatically monitor hydrology by integrating mobile wireless transmission and Internet technology.Meanwhile, the author makes a detailed introduction about the basic principle and network framework of GPRS, creates its corresponding network model, and analyzes GPRS communication agreement. By comparing GPRS with the traditional means of water regimen transmission, the author points out the advantages of data transmission utilizing the monitoring system of water regimen based on GPRS.However, this system has its own drawbacks, and needs to be improved. Therefore, in the last part of the article the author makes a detailed objective analysis on some problems in itsapplication and puts forward some suggestions about how to solve these problems.
