The Design Of The Remote Automatic Meter Reading System

As the continuous development of network technology and communication technology as well as the emergence of intelligent community, the design and realization of the remote meter reading system has become an inevitable trend.In this paper, the remote automatic meter reading system which can automatically read and send the data of water meter,ammeter and gas meter, is esatablished by using embedded system combined with ethernet technology and RS485 bus technique. This system is devided into two parts: the data acquisition terminal and the centralized controller.These two parts construct a distributional system through the RS485 bus to realize the data communication and system control.Based on the single chip microcomputer, the data acquisition terminal take the responsibility for the collection, storage and display of the data from there meters. With the core of ARM, the centralized controller not only gather the data from each data acquisition terminal through RS485 bus but also transfer these data to the computer of community management center with ethernet.The whole text consists of 5 parts: 1. introduce the baceground and developing tecdency of the remote meter reading system; 2. present the whole scheme on the basis of the system function analysis; 3. depict the hardware design ; 4. introduce the software design,including the design of the software flow,the compile of the programme and the transplant of the operating system; 5. introduce the debugging of software and hardware, and give the solutions to solve the problems which come up during the debugging. At last, a sum-up and presumption of latter work are presented.Practical test indicates: the remote meter reading system can realize the acquisition,storage,display and transformation of the data from water meter,ammeter and gas meter. For its reliability and precise, it even can extend into the fields of practical applications.
