With the rapidly development and prevalence of Internet, it is growing demands of network bandwidth. As its feature of high bandwidth, low cost, being used and updated easily, Ethernet Passive Optical Network is becoming the best selection for optical network. The management and improvement of EPON lie on network management system.This paper is based on the author's research project--"EPON Network Management System". During the project, the author gives deeply research on the relevant issues of EPON Network Management System, with referencing the latest research results around the world.This paper gives the brief discussion of EPON system architecture, analyzed the five-basic functional requirements of EPON network management system in detail: topology management, configuration management, fault management, performance management and security management, the SNMP protocol has bean also completely studied. Thorough research work based on above, the framework and structure of EPON network management system based on Spring Framework has bean worked out, the all system is divided into client,server,collector and database Four-tier structure. MVC model is used in client for separating GUI and business logic processing, Spring framework is used for the core model of our system, thread pool technology is imported to collector, a persistent data module is also designed in database which is used for facilitating the operations of the database access, and the implementation of this system is also given. This paper gives detailed discussion of the key technology that used in the system, and gives the testing of the system in fact. At last concludes strongpoint of the system and takes some suggestions to refine it in the future.
