Because of the rapid development of Internet services and the the coming of various new services,the requirements of network bandwidth are increasing more rapidly,traditional access network becomes the bottleneck of the whole transmission network But so many interfaces and OLTs and ONUs bring on more operations and complexity to network management.So,it is very important to provide a reliable network management system in order to ensure the stabilization and efficiency of EPON system.The EPON EMS in this article has selected C language under Linux environment for embedded development. In choosing the protocol, since the EPON network management is very complex, we have adopted the combination of the OAM protocol and SNMP protocol.It has designed the EPON Element Management System(EMS). It has analyzed and introduced the system hardware platform and the embedded system, and then it has selected the simple network management protocol for this system administration agreement. Finally, it has designed the software construction plan of the management side and the agent side of EMS.It has introduced the OAM agreement principle and proposed certain design proposals. Firstly it has introduced IEEE 802.3ah, the ether OAM agreement's principle. Then it has discussed the functional design proposals based on the OAM link examination, the long-distance error indication, the long-distance link cycle and so on in EPON emphatically.Establishing the development inviroment and realized its programs. Firstiy, it has analyzed and introduced the OAM agreement and the OAM frame form. Then, it has analyzed the development environment of the program, mainly introduced the program source code of PAS_SOFT. Then it has realized the OAM functional module, including the Control module, Parser module, Multiplexer module and so on. Finally, it has wholy realized the OAM application program.
