Research On Distributed Network Management Model Based On Simple Network Management Protocol

In a huge telecommunication network, there are many devices from different manufactures. In general, devices from different manufactures may bring the problem of compatibility to network management, which makes it difficult to monitor and manage all the devices in the network. So, it is necessary to build one general network management system for all the devices within the network. SNMP, coming from TCP/IP protocol cluster, is a protocol working on the application layer, designed for network management specially. Because SNMP has the property of simpleness and practicality, many manufactures develop the SNMP network management systems. The different management systems have no uniform interfaces, which bring isomerous management system and the difficulty to construct general network management system. CORBA, as one specification of distribution, can support the operation between objects in isomerous environment, because it offers uniform interface criteria. The application of CORBA in SNMP network management helps construct the general management system.CORBA/SNMP network management model is presented. The model consults the structure of SNMP management and JIDM specification. JIDM specification defines the operation between CORBA management domain and SNMP agent domain. Theoretically, JIDM specification corrects SNMP network management. The realization of JIDM specification has the problem of efficiency. According to the flaw of realization and the current condition, one coarse CORBA/SNMP network management model is put forward. The model not only converts the request from CORBA manager into SNMP operation, but also informs CORBA manager by converting the traps into events.ACE/TAO is an important telecommunication developing package, which offers free support for CORBA. The system employing ACE/TAO has good property of transplantation and expansion. The realization of CORBA/SNMP network management model uses many technologies, such as CORBA, SNMP, multithread and ACE/TAO. It is necessary to validate the realization of CORBA/SNMP network management. So, the implementation of simulation SDH proxy is given to meet the requirements for testing.
