This paper researches into the network management system of GPON equipment. The purpose of the study is as the following three aspects.First, in order to solve the difficulty of positioning failures in the multipoint network, it should manage different types of ONT focus effectively and monitor the real-time network performance;Second, it aims to reduce the ONT operation and maintenance costs of on-site maintenance with the function of supporting the ONT zero-configuration and diagnosing the ONT fault and upgrading the ONT remotely; Third, with taking the flexible configuration operation for managers, it points out the manpower savings to open terminal operations and the initial configuration for the business operators.With the thinking of modular hierarchical, this essay analysises the network management system in two levels.The first level is that Optical Line Terminal (OLT) is managed by the manager in the management station through SNMP. The other is Optical Network Terminal (ONT) is controlled by Optical Line Terminal (OLT) through OMCI. What's more, the study describes the overall framework and the logical flow and the implementation process with three instances.The result shows that the network management system of GPON equipment with SNMP and OMCI offers a good solution to difficult problems in the process of the operational management and maintenance for FTTx Networks.There are two points for the significance of innovation.On one hand, the SNMP-based management approach adopts the Suppression of sub-programs and custom error return program, with the proprietary protocol which packages similar parameters of logical management features.The advantage of the programs is that resources can be re-used and the device deployment operations can be simplified without the definition of too many new nodes.What's more, for the operation and maintenance personnally, it can accelerate the pace of opening projects.on the other hand, the system can support ONT zero-configuration and diagnosis the ONT fault remotely and upgrading ONT, with the means that the "master" controller OLT manages and controls the "slave" controller ONT through induction of the OMCI protocol. So the business operators could save the manpower to open terminal operations and the initial configuration. What's more, the OMCI protocol itself has a massive expansion of adding new managed entity (ME) continually.
