With economic globalization and China's entry into the WTO, China is becoming a world manufacturing center. China's manufacturing industry is facing increasingly fierce competition at home and abroad.How to meet the rich and the harsh users individual demand, how to provide high-value products, how to improve the enterprise's core competitiveness, these are pursued by enterprises. One of the ways is to meet the challenges of information technology to stimulate industrialization,to accelerate the process of informatization, to infuse the integration, agile, lean force by comprehensive application of advanced information technology and management techniques results.Manufacturing Execution System(MES) is the middle level of a three-tier model for enterprise integration layer ,which is the Enterprise Resource Planning layer (ERP),Manufacturing Execution System (MES) layer and the Process Control System layer (PCS). MES is on the play for ERP to go to PCS, which acts as a bridge between the operation and the stratagem. It is the key of high Agile and Lean production. The objectives of the thesis is to do the proper planning and a detailed analysis to MES, to design various functions of MES,to bring MES into full play being the role of bridge and integration. This thesis studies MES of heavy plate in the steel industry, the most complex processes. Using software engineering analysis and design methods ,this article first outline the current status of the information in Xiangtan iron & Steel Co.Ltd by focusing on process control systems and management information systems of the digital gulf, then make an analysis on the characteristics of the production of the heavy plate .From the MES system needs analysis, it points out the problems that exist and supply the MES solution, so that to well design and optimize the process management. In the system design and functional design, it clarifies its leading point and establish design goals, describes the framework and the process of handling the functional modules and images the changing in the business process and management model.
