It is becoming more and more important that information is gathered timely and precisely with the fierce competition among enterprises. Most of the enterprises have placed more emphasis on the management of workshop. How to manage workshop effectively to make information flow smoothly has been a necessary thing for companies. Therefore, the system of production management and control is mentioned in the thesis. MES includes all the functions of managing the workshop, so if MES is used in workshop, the process of production can be managed and controlled and the information in the workshop can be linked completely.The main content in the thesis is as follows:(1) Analyzing the development history, current situation and new problems of production management and new demands of technology of production management; narrating the contents of the system of production management and control; introducing the positioning and function model of the system .(2) Based on the current situation of Tianjin steel and iron co. ltd, narrating the current situation of the system of automation control and pointing out the defects of production management.(3) After making a deep research on advanced model of production management and the system structure of informatization, I address the system of production management and control based on integrated model that make database the information core of the model. And other system can obtain information from it.(4) Considering the actual current situation in the Tianjin steel and iron co. ltd and that MRPII and ERP can't control the production in the workshop thoroughly, I design a set of system of production management and control based MES that is suitable to the company, including the structure of software and hardware and total structure of the system. In the end, I design the process of implementing the system and describe the process of operation.
