Insuring the power system's stability and reliability is the object of the stability control device, when an accident occurring in the power system. Real-time, reliable communication system insures the function of the stability control device. Accurate sampling data and high-speed action is an important guide line for the quality of the stability control device. According to the stability control system, high speed is necessary for decision-making and controlling. Therefore, high-speed and reliable communication system and data acquisition system is necessary for the stability control device.In this paper, the development, current situation of and significance of the communication system and data acquisition system for the stability control device are firstly summarized.Secondly, based on the characteristic and request of the stability control device, a fiber communication scheme is designed in this paper. Hardware design and processing are analyzed and researched. The fiber communication scheme is tested and analyzed. The result indicates that the fiber communication can stability and reliably run. The problem which needed to research for the communication system is analyzed, then the paper summarizes the design and research of the communication system. This fiber communication system has been put into operation.Thirdly, two schemes are designed for the data acquisition system of the stability control device. The paper contrasts the two schemes, then this paper select the data acquisition shame which is based on the SOPC. The design and implement of the hardware are analyzed and researched in this paper. Two methods are designed for the program of FPGA. One method is designed by VHDL language, the other one is designed by SOPC technology. The hardware and software are tested by this paper. The result indicates that the data acquisition system can stably, reliably, high-speed acquire the conversion result for multi-channels analog input.
