With the emerging of global resources crisis, all types of data in geological, mineral, geophysical and geochemical and hydrological fields that have been achieved are in urgent need to be integrated, managed and synthetically developed and utilized through state-of-the-art information technology for Shandong Province. Therefore, Shandong Mineral Resources Management Information System is invested and built by Shandong Provincial Geology and Mineral Resources Bureau, the main objectives of which are: realize the management, retrieval and statistic of the original documents through computer information technology, digitalizing geological data and making the geological information into network, so as to do more good for the study of geological theory, geological exploration, environmental monitoring, agriculture and other related work in the field of economic construction and services.Firstly, this paper analyzes the background of the system development and the current development status of domestic and foreign mineral resources management information system. In view of the current research status and the existing problems, a domestically produced MAPGIS software is used as the development platform, a database combined with two groups of graphical data and attribute data is established, by means of the API function provided by MAPGIS and MFC class library, a second development with JAVA language is used, thus achieve a GIS-based management of mineral resources, so as to fulfill the objective of scientific management of mineral resources information.The paper uses the Rational Unified Process (RUP) as the software development methodology, with a unified modeling language (UML) as the analysis and design description language, through needs analysis, analyzes the current problems and needs, sums up the demand for functional and non-functional requirements, and models the Mineral Information query module using UML and Case Photograph. In the structure design part, the paper analyzes the general design principles and objectives of the system, introduces the general framework of the system, technical structure and functional structure. In the detailed design part, the paper describes the process and methods adopted for detailed design of the mineral resources information query module, primarily from the point of view of the main structure and the static and dynamic structure, and describes the part of the detailed design results by selecting some cases. This paper introduces a database of the mineral resources emphatically, because of the peculiarities of management information system is that it included a large number of spatial information, and properly solve graphical data and attribute data related issues, the establishment of a comprehensive database system is the development of this very important step. In this paper, based on the GIS platform of mineral resources management system data structure, data storage and organization, then presents a spatial database building methods, in particular the establishment of the graphics database processes to the detail. Finally, in accordance with needs analysis and the results of the detailed design, development of the China University of Geosciences MAPGIS as a platform, JAVA application for the development of language, completed the Mineral Information module design procedures to achieve the Eagle Eye, stratified, distance and area Operators of the mining area for the function.Shandong Province mineral resources management information system has a main function of management, query, statistics and output of the data. Its completion will improve the management of mineral resources, promote the governmental scientific decision-making and rapid response capabilities, enhance the comprehensive coordination capabilities, and will do more services for the economic construction and the sustainable development of Shandong Province.
