Rapid prototyping is a integrated process of many technologies,such as CAD/CAM,computer control science,laser technology,material science and so on.The traditional laser sources are almost gas laser,but which disadvantages are high price,low electro-optical conversion efficiency,low reliability and so on,so it is not conducive to promote RP technology.With the development of semiconductor technology ,it provides best light source to SLA and SLA RP.And in the electro-optical efficiency,cost,size,life expectancy and reliability,the semiconductor laser is optimal.In the spectrum,spectrum width,power and other properties,it is also fully in the line with requirement of rapid prototyping. This paper has made systematic researches on two typical representative of the rapid prototyping—SLA,SLS. The main contents are as follows:1.It elaborates the purpose and significance of semiconductor laser in the rapid prototyping application and introduces the domestic and foreign development situation of rapid prototyping. Then it points out the semiconductor laser will be the most potential in the rapid prototyping technology.2.It introduces the semiconductor laser radiation theory principle and applications, elaborates the denelopment trend of semiconductor laser and advantage in the material processing.3.It elaborates advantage of semiconductor laser in the SLA,SLS prototyping technology,mainly from material properties and work efficiency to analysis contrasting to gas laser,itself has the unique advantage compared with traditional laser.4.It designs semiconductor laser source module,according to the special nature of the semiconductor laser beam,choice the cylindrical lens group and portfolio prism to collimator and beam expander.And select GaAlAs SDL—4500 semiconductor laser,calculation of specific design parameters.5.At last it designs galvanometer scanning RP system based on semiconductor laser source module,which mainly including laser diode-pointing,galvanometer,dynamic focus module,scan and laser control and so on.As energy source of Rapid Prototyping ,single LD can realize small compact,increase machining accuracy and has many other advantages,there are not technical related reports at home and abroad,so this work is innovative.Another using the cylindrical lens group and portfolio prism to collimator and beam expander has certain novelty.
