Recently, grid computing has become a popular solution of the scientific and engineering computing. To take advantages of grid resource for the execution of workflow instance which contains a large number of computing-dense jobs is very significant for the development of the scientific and engineering computing. Accordingly, we introduce the job management technology and MPI technology to the grid workflow system and propose a job management oriented grid workflow system.In this paper, first, we present the restricted digraph based model. Based on this model, we propose a grid workflow process definition language. Second, we design an architecture of the job management oriented grid workflow system, the schedule scheme, and the parallel supporting solution. Third, based on redirected digraph model, MPI technology and Globus Tookit, we present the implementation of a prototype. We also clearly describe the main modules and their relationships and explain the main technology and method used in the development of the major modules. The prototype not only supports the parallel dispatching and computing of application in the workflow instance, but also supports the communication among parallel processes. The parallel supporting enhances the efficiency of the jobs' execution in the workflow instance. Finally, we show a case to explain how the prototype system handles the job-oriented workflow instance in the grid environment. At the same time, according to the experimental data, we analyze the performance of the prototype.
