Grid is a new computing and resources-sharing environment in which a wide range of resources can be shared and operated collaboratively based on the Internet. With the development of Internet technology, grid gathered a large number of grid resources, such as data resources, software resources, computing resources and so on, which are in distributed, heteroid, autonomous, dynamic and expandable character. To make full use of the characteristics of the grid, grid resources are needed to compute collaboratively. In order to improve the efficiency and performance of grid resources, the task can be broken down into interrelated sub-tasks which can be allocated to grid resources. Based on grid resources'characters of distributivity and autonomous, more real-time communications can not be achieved among each sub-tasks, the traditional methods of task distribution and scheduling is no longer applicable in the grid, which may result in some of the traditional workflow methods and technologies can not effectively deal with issues related to grid environment. Therefore, the concept of grid workflow is introduced.The author has made deep research on how to apply the grid workflow technology into traditional information system development process, in order to solve issues like poor scalability, resource load imbalance in the original system, poor degree of code standards and so on, from both theoretical and practical aspects.In theory, the first step is do some analysis and research based on theoretical aspect, such as grid resource management, grid workflow of basic principles, OGSA architecture, characteristics of the Web Services technology. The author presented grid resource monitoring system model and the random function in the global workflow process model after combining the natures of grid monitoring system which are broad geographical distribution and heterogeneous logically.In practice, the second step is to make full analysis and research on resources in the regulatory system. A designation of the grid method of data communication between services is made based on the resource map for the global model grid services. The random function workflow process model is applied to the monitoring system, so as to achieve the control of grid resources, i.e. grid services be executed automatically. In addition, the author develops a standard service interface, which can be achieved even in the implementation of the workflow instance can communicate with external data, including the host application and grid services. Finally, the workflow model and interface to the monitoring system was applied through a call to realize the dynamic grid resource allocation.
