Grid is the infrastructure of new generation based on Internet, which represent a great scientific and technological progress following Internet technology. The goal of Grid is for realizing different kinds of resource-sharing and for solving calculating on a large scale or such problems as the data are calculate intensively.Grid resource management gives full play to the role of its coordination, organizing and managing all kinds of resources, coordinating all kinds of tasks, accomplishing the task of calculating and storing together. Most of jobs or tasks are not independent, which are direct forerunners or directly succeeding relations each other. The relations of tasks have put forward the new demand for grid resource management. If Grid resource management can realize the automatic or semi-automatic accomplishment of relevant tasks, such as while needing users to participate in, reminding users to input some configurations, then, Grid can become an semi-automatic computing platform. Therefore, it is up to setting up a special resource administrative system model adapting to the complicated environment of workflow, which establish the foundation of efficiency and automatic in grid resource management.For the demand for workflow technology in grid environment, a frame of grid resource management based on workflow engine, is put forward. The frame has been improved on the basis of grid resource management. It can merge global or local resource managements and layer workflow engine into an integrated system.In this paper, we design a frame of global grid resource management basis of workflow engine technology .We also realize some key part in this structure. Workflow technology has already acquired some achievements, but introducing it to the global distributed environment such as grid is at exploring stage. Compared with the past resource management system there are a great deal of advantages in the grid resource management based on workflow engine. It has good flexibility in realizing intelligently relevant tasks into resource allocation and management. What's more, the improved communication model has offered a kind of loose coupling control, which makes the design and development of the communication system very flexible.In the global layer, we increase an extra job workflow act engine module, whichcan describe, analyze and dispatch application workflows of large scale. In order to support the scheduling of resources, this module can communicate with other composition in grid infrastructure. It directly leads to fewer changes in our basic platform of grid. In the local layer of grid resource allocation, we have put some improvements in function based on Globus GRAM package. At last, we can realize the local workflow dispatcher system basically.At last, it is introduced the grid workflow platform of Gridbus in this paper. Gridbus platform is an open source code project, which is of much organization cooperation. The system that we design has been developed on the platform of Gridbus. On this platform, we can run the workflow coordinator and task managers we programmed in advance, which can prove the truth of introducing workflow engine into local grid resource management.
