Fieldbus technology provides such characteristics as digital, entire scattering, opening and inter-operability, representing the future development direction of the industrial control networks. Currently it has attracted worldwide attentions in the field of automatic control.This paper focuses on the development of an automatic car-dumper control system for unloading coal. Based on the analysis of inputs and outputs of the system and the control requirements, This paper select the Schneider Quantum PLC, Profibus-DP, and the AS-i fieldbus as the hardware platform, thus satisfying the requirements of stability, reliability, maneuverability, and expansibility of the whole system.This dissertation first analyzes and compares the features of several typical Fieldbuses, and then investigates the network architecture and communication protocol of the PROFIBUS-DP and AS-i fieldbus. According to practical user's requirements, this paper proposed an automatic car-dumper control scheme based on the PROFIBUS-DP and AS-i fieldbus, and accomplished the design of the PLC control of the C/D system and PC configuration, especially for the PLC control of the feeder. In addition, fuzzy PID control is employed for the control of synchronous dual-motor of C/D control system. By comparison with the conventional PID control, it is found that fuzzy PID control outperforms the traditional PID control in many performance indicators. Simulating experiments were carried out on MATLAB platform. The experimental results show that proposed fuzzy PID control is particularly suitable for situations where mathematical model of system is difficult to establish, and the results prove the feasibility of the fuzzy control method.By design and implementation of proposed fieldbus control scheme, it is fully demonstrated that the fieldbus technology has such advantages as integration of information, and economic implementation. Compared with the traditional central control systems and distributed control systems, and even the original manual operation system, the fieldbus control system has exhibited good performance and high reliability in terms of overall design, hardware configuration, software design and two-way serial multi-node digital communication.
