| Equipment management, as an important part of enterprise management, has already been a problem concerned by all enterprises. Now many enterprises have set up equipment management system, but with the enterprises developing and their productions increasing, equipments can be higher, lager and more complicated. There are more and more data and information which exchange with other departments'more frequently, such as data about purchasing, inventory, finance, customers, staff, producing, and so on. Interactive relationship becomes more and more complicated, so increasing data can not satisfy the need of equipment management and decision-making. The application for equipment data of managers has been developed from data themselves to get inclusive knowledge from a great deal of data. To collect, pack up, induce, and extract the useful equipment information needed is a kind of heavy job, so this job can't be accomplished by a single one or a simple system. Therefore, a new system is recommended exigently for equipment management department, which supports data analysis and decision making. This new system can supply much more comprehensive and historical information which describes the total process of equipment management.The paper firstly summarizes the relative theories of equipment management and data warehouse; analyzes domestic and international research actuality about equipment management system; analyzes the application of data warehouse on equipment management system; and then summarizes the merit and shortcomings of the equipment management system existed. Based on the above research, this paper puts forward the necessarily of the research on data warehouse for equipment management system.The paper utilizes spiral development method based on business dimensional lifecycle to develop data warehouse system for equipment management. The demand related to equipment management will be investigated and analyzed firstly. And then, multi-dimensional data model and snowflake schema for data warehouse are constructed. After extracting, transacting and so on, data will be loaded down in warehouse from databases by Microsoft SQL Server 2000. We can resort to multi-dimension information analysis and deep data mining by technology of OLAP to settle the problems existed in equipment management system, and then make decision analyzers obtain the needed information flexibly and rapidly according to their demand. What's more, the user of system can get related data of equipment management to improve the management quality and real-time efficiency.Finally, the paper selects a case study of Harbin Electric machinery Co., Ltd. The equipment management system mentioned above is verified to satisfy the dynamic requirement of various decision making, make efficiency of equipment management improved, and match the expectation. |
